Worship at Immanuel

Worship is a time for us to receive God’s gifts through His Word, sacraments and fellowship with His people, the Church. In response to these great gifts, we are also afforded the opportunity to thank and praise God for all that He has done for us.

We also believe that in gathering as the Body of Christ, God equips us to be like Him. We learn to love, care for and even forgive one another as we build our relationships not only with God but with one another. We are then also equipped to serve others as Christ has served us. During the school year (After Labor Day and before Memorial Day) we offer two worship services on Sunday mornings, one at 8am and one at 10:30. Both services present God’s gifts in exciting and dynamic ways and allow us to thank Him for those gifts.

The services are presented in different “styles” recognizing that as humans some may hear God’s voice more clearly through a particular “form” of worship. Our 8am service is a “traditional” format using the Lutheran Service Book (LSB) for both the liturgy as well as the hymns. The musical elements are accompanied by an organ, and uses numerous historical and modern Lutheran liturgies (orders of service.)

Starting at 9:15am, Sunday School is offered for all ages from 3 years through high school, college & adult  (September—May)

The 10:30 service is our “contemporary” format and uses a praise band (electric guitar, keyboard, drums and vocals) to lead the musical elements. The liturgy for the contemporary service still uses many of the elements of the historical Lutheran liturgy, yet presents them in modern ways fitting with the theme for that particular week.

During the summer we have only one worship service at 9am and combine elements of both of these styles in each service. In all of our services ALL people are welcome. We especially value children and welcome them in services. We offer a special “children’s time” during most of our Sunday worship services (the children are invited to come forward) and see the entire worship experience as “family oriented.” We do also offer a staffed nursery for children who have exceeded their ability to participate in worship joyfully. Parents of young children, you know what we mean!
